WEBINAR taster course:
The Waldon Method
Early play: How children learn to learn
The English child neurologist Dr. Geoffrey Waldon was interested in how children learn to play and what they need in order to learn to learn and understand. Each child must develop this for himself from his own active experiences. It cannot be explained or taught to the child. This only hinders this fundamental development. This is because it takes place exploratively, and above all without verbal instructions, and thus forms the foundation from which understanding and shared meanings, and thus words and speech, can emerge. Children with autistic-like behaviors (and too many ‚modern‘ or ‚educationally valuable‘ toys) often lack these fundamental experiences, - and so they stagnate in their play and learning development.
